Bonne soirée! I am writing this as I'm laying in bed watching Shogun on Hulu. The show is fantastic, but also a bit distracting because I do not speak Japanese, so while I upload pictures and edit the blog, I miss a lot of what's happening because the screen is full of my editing windows and I cannot understand any of the Japanese language! Exploring Leica and My Photography Journey in Paris Paris is a city that constantly inspires me, especially creatively. After moving here, I became fascinated by how others before me embraced their passions, particularly photography, something that’s always intrigued me. Back in the U.S., I had already started collecting beautiful prints, including works by photographer Rebecca Plotnick, whose images of Paris I found at Pottery Barn. I was drawn to her shot of ranunculus flowers at a Parisian market. At first glance, I mistook them for peonies—flowers that hold a special place in my heart because my father grew them in our garden. That print became a cherished piece, evoking both nostalgia for home and excitement for my new Parisian life. And this blend of emotions fueled my desire to start capturing my own memories of Paris, but in my way. With my iPhone filled with over 22,000 photos of Paris—from croissants to couture—it became clear that I needed to elevate my photography game. Enter Leica. I had heard of the brand but didn’t know much about their history. What I did know was that German engineering is synonymous with quality, so I was intrigued. After diving into YouTube reviews and researching cameras that could handle both photography and video content for my blog, TikTok, and Instagram, I decided to visit the Leica Beaumarchais store. The team there was incredibly helpful, speaking both French and English, and introduced me to the Leica Q3, ideal for street photography—or so I thought! While I assumed street photography simply meant capturing images of the streets and buildings, I quickly learned it's about so much more: capturing life and moments in motion. When I shared my creative aspirations—capturing photos, shooting video content, and expanding my brand—the associate recommended the Leica SL2-S instead. Initially, this threw me off; I had been convinced that the Q3 was perfect for me. But after taking the time to reflect on the projects I envision, I realized the SL2-S would offer me more versatility. The team even suggested that I rent the camera before committing, which I did. I spent a few days testing it, navigating the settings (which were a bit tricky at first), and getting comfortable with the controls. By the end of the trial, I was hooked. So, I made the leap! I purchased my first professional camera—the Leica SL2-S—complete with a lens, adapter, SD card, screen protector, and extra battery. And yes, I may have avoided returning the rental on Friday the 13th (thankfully, the store humored my superstition). Now, I’m ready to capture Paris like never before—through a professional lens, literally! No post on my blog would be complete without a mention of French fashion. I was introduced to one of its most exciting designers—Barbara Bui. I've been meaning to check out her designs for a while, and I finally had the chance to visit her boutique on Avenue Montaigne after passing her Saint-Germain boutique several times. Bui is renowned for her sharp tailoring and bold design choices; her fall collection is no exception. One of her suits was recently worn by Emily in the series Emily in Paris, on Netflix. It was a gorgeous blue suit, well-tailored and luxurious (spoiler alert - she wears it when hunting for Camille at Monet's home in Giverny).
Bui utilizes premium textures like silk, genuine leather, wool, and cashmere—each piece is impeccably tailored. My eyes were naturally drawn to the black and gray tones, but I appreciated how she infused pops of color with vibrant blues and pinks. It's a collection for the modern woman: Parisian chic, sophisticated, and effortlessly balancing work and leisure (and cocktails). The attention to detail—from zipper placements to buckle designs and perfectly structured lapels—adds that extra layer of depth to the entire collection. Barbara Bui reminds me that Parisian fashion isn't just about the classic marinière sweaters, wide-leg trousers, and navy blazers exported to the U.S. through Instagram. Living here, I'm constantly inspired to carve out my lane in Parisian fashion, embracing my identity as a modern woman in this beautiful city. My experience in the store was truly delightful. I initially stepped in after realizing I had arrived a day early for my dermatologist appointment—so I decided to turn my free time into a fashion exploration. After a 30-minute walk, I found myself at the Barbara Bui boutique on Avenue Montaigne, one of Paris' luxury shopping hubs. The staff greeted me warmly as I entered the boutique, which exudes modern elegance with its sleek gray tones and intimate, chic lighting. My attention was immediately drawn to a pair of moto boots I had been eyeing for months. Having recently moved to Paris from Houston, where snow and colder weather are rare, I never had much use for boots. However, in Paris, stylish and functional boots are a must, and I was particularly inspired by my photographer friend, Stephanie, who always looks effortlessly chic in her moto boots. After trying on a few sizes, I found the perfect fit and had a great conversation with the sales associate about sizing and winter wear (partially in French!). The staff's dedication to helping me find the right size and feel was impeccable, reminding me of what true luxury service is all about. The highlight of the visit was being invited upstairs to the main floor, where the full collection was showcased. From coats to handbags and jewelry, it was a closet worth splurging on. While I didn't end up buying a coat that day—mostly because it felt too hot after my walk—I was drawn to the sleek cuts, soft textures, and tailored touches. I also loved the leather skirts and boots that combined French and Western influences. I was reminded of the Western chic boots from Balmain and Etro. When I left, I took my new Moto boots with me, and the associate kindly sent over a lookbook for further inspiration - this added another touch of superior client service. I'm already thinking about which pieces might make the perfect addition to my winter wardrobe. Decisions, decisions!

Bienvenue! Well, here we are, Monday, September 23, and I’m actually writing this post a bit backwards because so much has happened! These past two weeks have been filled with exciting adventures, and I’m eager to share them all. But first, let’s start with the most recent adventure. I’m thrilled to announce that my university program at Sup de Luxe is starting next Monday! Can you believe it? I still can’t quite wrap my head around it, especially considering that just a year and a half ago, I was planning my stay in Paris. It was around this time last year when I submitted my application and spoke to the admissions officer, feeling both nervous and excited. I knew I wasn’t just moving to a new country—I was also shifting industries, from healthcare to luxury marketing. It’s been a journey, from completing five months of language courses to now preparing for an intensive dive into the luxury world. This past Saturday, I met a new friend who will be attending the MBA program at my university. She’s also passionate about luxury but leans toward the jewelry sector. Before our lunch, I stopped by a bookstore near the Louvre and picked up two French books and a few postcards that capture the essence of my current mood: a modern Parisian woman with an appreciation for historical and vintage collections. Parisian Luxury: My Love Affair with Fashion
One of the reasons I’m so passionate about this new path is my long-standing love for luxury fashion, especially in Paris. Paris is truly the ultimate destination for those who adore iconic French designers like Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Chanel, Balmain, Saint Laurent, and Givenchy (yes, yes, yes!). The heritage, the timeless craftsmanship, and the sheer elegance these brands embody—there’s nothing quite like it. I’m especially drawn to Balmain, with its military-inspired pieces and haute couture statements. The city itself is full of people who don’t just love luxury fashion as a brand but as an art form, appreciating the heritage, stories, and exquisite craftsmanship behind every piece. A Vintage Shopping Adventure After lunch, we ventured into some vintage shopping. Honestly, I hadn’t planned on buying anything, but when you step into a beautifully curated store filled with hand-selected pieces, it’s hard to resist! The setting was intimate—just a few people at a time, making for a calm and luxurious shopping experience. My eyes were darting all over the place, especially at the stunning vintage Chanel pieces. One jacket in particular—a fuchsia piece—stood out. I tried it on over my mini dress, and it looked fabulous. Now, I’m asking myself, why didn’t I just buy it? Then, I noticed a black vintage Chanel coat hanging behind the shop owner. I was in the market for a black coat for winter, and this one immediately caught my attention. I love my Saint Laurent coat, which I’ve mentioned in a previous post, but this Chanel coat was something else entirely. The shop owner explained that it was from the ’90s and could fit a range of sizes from 36 to 44, making it incredibly versatile. When I tried it on, it was love at first sight. The way it draped, the silk Chanel lining, and the eight buttons—it was truly a statement piece. The 6 Stages of Falling in Love with a Fashion Investment Buying an investment piece isn’t just about the price tag; it’s an emotional experience. As I reflected on my Chanel coat, I realized I went through six clear stages in my decision-making process:
The Joy of Investment Pieces For me, investing in fashion isn’t like the stock market—it’s about falling in love with a piece that will last. This Chanel coat is one of those pieces. The quality stitching, the perfectly placed pockets, the versatile styling options—it’s everything I look for in an investment. Now, I’m just thinking about how I’ll style it next! Bonjour! Let’s talk about Saint Laurent. Over the last few weeks, I’ve spent more time inside a Saint Laurent store than I have cooking meals for myself—and honestly, no regrets. My introduction to Saint Laurent happened about 12 years ago on my first trip to Paris. While I didn’t purchase anything then, that experience ignited my journey into the world of luxury brands. It got me thinking about how I could blend luxury’s allure with my background in healthcare strategy—a thought-provoking intersection of art, design, and experience. Since then, I’ve explored countless luxury stores, searching for exquisite pieces, but as the initial excitement faded, my interest evolved into a deep passion for understanding the history of iconic fashion houses like Saint Laurent, Louis Vuitton, and Dior. There's so much history woven into their seams. During my years in Houston, I decided to immerse myself even further into Saint Laurent, learning about the brand’s products, style, and its legendary founder. I even had the chance to visit the stunning Maison in Marrakech, a true testament to the brand’s enduring allure. Now back in Paris, I’ve been refining my personal style, staying true to my American and Caribbean roots while reconnecting with my New York sensibilities. I’m blending these elements with Parisian luxury, but I’m still defining exactly what that looks like. Each visit to Saint Laurent feels like another step closer to the vision of my evolving style. On one of these visits, my cousin and I were together, and she asked if I wanted to go into the store. I was surprised to see a Saint Laurent boutique on the Champs-Élysées, so I hesitated. She encouraged me, asking if I wanted to go in and ask "the question." I paused, trying to remember which question she meant, and then she reminded me: I love to ask, “What is something I can get here that I cannot find anywhere else?” It's a whole experience to be cherished. I often find that I connect with the right people at these boutiques—nine times out of ten, I’m paired with someone who truly enhances the experience. This time was no different. Our sales associate, impeccably stylish, patient, and warm, guided us through a curated journey of ready-to-wear pieces. Walking into the store, you’re immediately assigned an associate, and when I asked about their offerings, his response was everything: “Exotic pieces and ready-to-wear on the third floor.” Without missing a beat, I knew that was exactly where I was meant to be. It’s moments like these that make each visit to Saint Laurent not just a shopping trip, but an exploration of luxury, history, and my own sense of style. BIKER COAT IN LAMBSKIN, I adored its dramatic length and the way it hugged me with every step—it felt like a statement, a bold declaration of presence. There’s a confidence that comes with slipping into this jacket, paired with an immediate nostalgia for my days in New York City. It reminded me of my older cousin’s coat with that unmistakable Brooklyn edge. The jacket’s softness and the way the belt cinched my waist made it feel like it could double as a dress, adding to its allure. Saint Laurent, SHORT JACKET IN LAMBSKIN. Initially, this jacket wasn’t my first choice. My eyes were set on the stunning BIKER JACKET IN LAMBSKIN. However, this short jacket exuded that quintessential Saint Laurent edge. I looked at both on again and I realized the shorter jacket was speaking to me in a different way. The way it hugged my body—tailored yet effortless, with just the right amount of structure—felt like it was made for me. It was strong yet soft, much like how I see myself. It wrapped around me like a second skin, making me feel both powerful and feminine, a balance that’s not always easy to capture in fashion. The sleeves are designed to be ruched, and the material is made to remain luxurious over time. I have small wrists, so my SA suggested tapering the wrist opening and adding another button clasp. At this store, a tailor is available on-site to make adjustments if needed. The alterations took just a day or two. When I returned to try on the jacket, the sleeve opening fit much better, and that’s when we decided to add the extra button clasp, which was done in about 15–20 minutes. Now, I’m just waiting for winter to wear my jacket. Luxury is choice. One thing I look for when shopping is that my SA brings me multiple options that align with my reason for being in the store. Yes, I may come in for a specific item, but I appreciate being asked thoughtful questions and presented with a variety of options. Although I wasn’t initially searching for a winter coat, my SA brought me the most beautiful, incredibly soft cashmere coat. I wasn’t expecting to fall in love again! I had decided on the short jacket, but living in Paris, where winters are real, I’ve been thinking about adding a cashmere coat to my wardrobe. I couldn’t stop smiling when I tried it on—he even knew the perfect size for me. The tailoring was exquisite, and I wish I could fully convey the softness of the fabric. He suggested shortening the sleeves for a better fit, which is quintessential Saint Laurent: impeccable tailoring, the finest materials, and a style that will endure. This coat can be styled in so many ways, dressed up or down. I can already imagine wearing it in both settings. At the final moment, when the store had officially closed, my cousin and I had our photo taken in full haute couture. It was such a special day! Being able to try on different looks and just enjoy the experience is exactly what I’ve come to expect from a luxury boutique. I also left with this stunning wrap pencil skirt in lace. Lace is a significant part of the current 2024 collection and will undoubtedly stand the test of time. With Saint Laurent lace pieces, meticulous care is taken to ensure the lace aligns perfectly, so even with the stitches, you see one seamless pattern, one uninterrupted flow. That is luxury. I’m still debating on the shoes—they’re definitely dinner shoes, not meant for walking on concrete! I loved the gold tones on my cousin; everything fit her so beautifully. Her dress accentuated her figure perfectly, and the warm gold of her jacket combined with the satin of her shoes pulled the entire look together in a way only Saint Laurent can achieve. Lastly, when I see the combination of textures and materials in this photo, I’m truly in awe. Recently, my admiration for Saint Laurent reached new heights. The brand’s flagship store on the Champs-Élysées, with its sleek, avant-garde design and meticulously crafted pieces, captures the essence of luxury marketing—where every detail speaks to brand heritage and exclusivity. Living in Paris, the heart of luxury, I’ve come to appreciate not just the shopping but the entire immersive experience that brands like Saint Laurent offer. It’s the personalized service, the meticulous attention to craftsmanship, and the emotional connection that elevate these moments beyond the ordinary.
During a visit to the store, a thoughtful conversation with a Sales Associate led to an unexpected invitation: a private screening of Emilia Pérez at the Cinéma du Panthéon. This wasn’t just a film; it was an artistic statement that perfectly aligned with the bold vision of Saint Laurent. Produced by Creative Director Anthony Vaccarello, the film stars Karla Sofía Gascón, Zoe Saldaña, and Selena Gomez, and tells a powerful story of transformation and identity—reflecting the fearless spirit that luxury brands aspire to. This experience reminded me that luxury isn’t just about the items we acquire—it’s about the stories we become a part of. Saint Laurent’s commitment to creativity and community is palpable, turning every interaction into a meaningful connection. It’s these curated, Parisian moments that remind us why we fall in love with luxury: for the artistry, the authenticity, and the shared narrative that stays with us long after we leave the store. Have you ever felt truly seen by a brand? These are the moments that make luxury an emotional journey, one that enriches our lives in extraordinary ways. I highly recommend experiencing Emilia Pérez—it’s a bold, beautiful reminder of the power of storytelling and the art of embracing who we truly are. Salut! Ça va? I’ve just come through a whirlwind week, and let me tell you, it was a mix of chaos, excitement, and relief! My cousin flew in from Copenhagen, and I couldn’t have been happier to see her. She jumped right in to help me move from my student apartment in Bagnolet to a friend’s home in the chic west side of Paris. With classes still going and the August heat wearing me down, I was juggling exhaustion and anticipation all at once. The week felt like a Parisian dance between packing, attending classes, and hauling my life’s treasures—four suitcases and a yellow one from Marrakech that once carried my cherished Moroccan rugs. Moving in Paris isn’t just about logistics; it’s a journey filled with reflection, change, and the reminder that sometimes, the simplest help—like a cousin arriving at just the right time—can feel like the greatest luxury of all. I’ll miss my little Parisian gem, La Vie Claire, the local organic market that became my go-to for delicious, guilt-free snacks. Those fresh finds were our secret weapons, fueling us through every box packed and every step of the move. It’s places like this, tucked into the heart of the city, that make everyday moments feel a bit more special—and a bit more Parisian. The Drawing Hotel is more than just a place to stay—it’s an experience. We enjoyed delicious wine from Fontenille while chatting with the friendly staff in this art-filled boutique hotel. The wine and liquor selection process here is thoughtfully curated, prioritizing quality and unique regional flavors that perfectly complement the hotel’s artistic vibe. From coworking spaces to the rooftop, each sip feels like a celebration of Parisian taste and creativity. Eminente Rum brought a taste of Cuba to Paris during our cocktail hour at the Drawing Hotel. With its rich, smoky flavor profile and hints of caramel and spice, it was the perfect companion as we relaxed in the chic coworking space. The spirit captures the essence of Cuban craftsmanship, adding a touch of exotic elegance to our evening. Now, let’s shift to our too-short trip to Nice—just four days and three nights, but somehow it never feels like enough, does it? With my busy schedule since moving to France and jumping into language school on day one, this little escape was exactly what I needed. My cousin, escaping Copenhagen’s cold, was ready for sun, tans, and some heat, while I preferred the shade of a cabana. We indulged in fresh seafood, and though I missed out on trying the Red Velvet cake at “The American Bakery,” the vibrant flavors of Nice more than made up for it. It was a sunny reminder of why breaks, even short ones, are so essential. This oil, infused with herbs and pepper, brought an incredible spicy punch that was both bold and delicious. We loved it with our charcuterie and pizza, adding a bold, flavorful touch to every bite. FADA beer captures the vibrant essence of the South of France, with every sip reflecting the golden beaches and picturesque charm of Provence. A favorite among locals and visitors alike, this craft brew is the perfect companion for a warm day on the French Riviera, offering a taste of authentic Provencal flair in every glass. Moules frites (mussels and French fries) are a beloved classic in the South of France. They capture the region's love for fresh, simple, and flavorful ingredients, often cooked in white wine, garlic, and herbs. Sometimes, you can also get the mussels cooked with tomatoes, which makes it richer in flavor. I love the casual elegance of this dish; it's comforting and satisfying for people who love seafood. Nestled atop the hill in Cagnes-sur-Mer, Château Grimaldi is a captivating blend of history, art, and breathtaking scenery. Originally a medieval fortress, this chateau was transformed into an art museum that now houses an eclectic mix of works ranging from contemporary art to classic pieces from the 20th century. Each room tells a different story, with themes spanning from local artists inspired by the Mediterranean to avant-garde sculptures and surrealist paintings. The variety of artworks reflects the rich, diverse influences that have shaped the region, making it a fascinating stop for any art lover. My cousin wanted to explore this hidden gem after a shopping moment at Cap3000, where I picked up a chic blue dress that felt ideally suited for the day. I had packed so poorly! This was definitely the first time I packed without enough clothes, no edge control, and no lotion. #dontjudgeme We took the local bus, a 45-minute ride through the hills. With this ride, you get to see what local life in the mountains would be like. Château Grimaldi’s art collection surprised us—every piece felt distinct, and we wondered why it was built and now a museum. The artwork really varied (see below). The installation with Miles Davis was so unexpected. Once we were outside, I couldn’t resist experimenting with taking photos against the castle’s historic backdrop. After wandering through the castle and soaking in the diverse art, we ended our visit with a glorious dinner at a nearby restaurant, where the view of the city below was nothing short of spectacular. There’s something magical about dining with the chateau in the background, knowing it has stood the test of time, just like the art it now holds. Have you ever found a hidden gem that surprised you? Château Grimaldi was that perfect mix of discovery, culture, and style wrapped up in an unforgettable day. Some of the artwork at Château Grimaldi. The best way to finish this post is with some sunny pics of the beach and ice cream!
